How to view screenshots on a Windows 10 laptop

My wife and I had a bit of a weird run-in with our Windows 10 laptops recently. She was trying to show me a picture she took, but when she went into her folder, there wasn’t anything in it. At first we thought it might have been deleted by accident, but then when my pictures wouldn’t come up either, we figured it was an issue with the computer itself.

We decided to see if we could fix it by pressing the Windows key and “x” at the same time, then clicking “settings”. This opened Microsoft Edge, which led us to believe that perhaps something had changed since our last Microsoft update.

Trying again, this time with Chrome open, we discovered that the issue wasn’t with Windows or Edge, but rather with our browsers.

When my wife went into her Firefox and tried to view the screenshot again, it opened just fine and showed us what she was trying to show me. Back in Chrome, we did some research and found a fix:

At the top of your Chrome window, near the web address, click the green lock labeled Secure.

Click Show advanced settings .

In the “Privacy” section, click Content settings… .

Under “Screen capture”, select Ask (or choose your own preference).

Reload all of your tabs. This should fix any previous issues that you’ve had with pictures and screenshots

I hope you find this information useful! We felt our laptops acting pretty wonky for a few days, but after we fixed the issue, everything has been running smoothly. And who knows- maybe it was just a browser glitch in the first place? Either way, thanks for reading and have a great day
